Fisher Funeral Parlor

Mr. James Leroy Ellerbe was born in Anson County, Lilesville, NC, December 23, 1945 to the late Barzie Thomas Ellerbe, Sr. and Jessie Lillie Dunlap Ellerbe. He departed this life on Sunday, January 11, 2015.

 

James was a graduate of Henry Grove High School of the Anson County School Systems. He also attended Livingstone College, Durham Business College and graduated with a B.A. in Public Administration and M.A. in Education from North Carolina Central University.  He retired from North Carolina Central University after 25 years of service and upon his retirement he was the Director of Academic Budget and Finance.

 

He was preceded in death by: six brothers Odell Ellerbe (Estelle), Willie Ellerbe, Curtis Ellerbe (Leola), Charlie Ellerbe (Rosa), Haywood Ellerbe (Frances), and Norman Ellerbe.

 

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife Patricia of the home, one son, Walter Ellerbe of Richmond, Va. and one daughter, Dorlene Bruce (Michael) of Knightdale, NC; four grandchildren, Walter, Courtney, Christopher, and Miles; his remaining siblings three sisters Sallie Mouzon (Matthew) of Lilesville, NC, Georgiana Liles (Joe, Jr.), and Laura Ellerbe of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's AME Church, 2521 Fayetteville Street.  The family visitation will be one hour prior to service.
